Approximately 170,000 children under the age of fifteen are HIV+ in India. Medical and personal care is scarce, and they face several problems as many of these children don’t have a family or were abandoned. Their youth was taken away from them, and many of their dreams too.
Luckily, there is an organization doing a great job on caring and helping these underpriviliged kids. Rays Aasha Ki Ek Kiran (or simply RAYS) is a non profit foundation created in 2010 in Jaipur that supports HIV+ children by giving them the support they need in order to have a healthy and happy life — education, medical aid, balanced meals, regular exercise and, most of all, love.
Caring for these children is a great responsibility. Rays work relies on positive and kind hearted people, as many of their staff is composed by volunteers. Having started with only 3 kids and now sheltering more than 50, it is safe to say that the project is a tremendous success.
You can find more about RAYS at their website. There are many ways to help, be it in person or donating a small amount of rupees. Every penny counts and make a big difference in the lives of these children.
This Abhar Utsav, team Karmyo expresses our Gratitude to RAYS and their its volunteers for their work towards a better society expecting nothing in return. Celebrate Abhar Utsav, the Grattitude Week, by sharing postcards with important people in your life. Find more about Abhar Utsav in www.abharutsav.com, and support our campaign!
